A group of leading organizations in the British equestrian sector have joined forces to launch The Hoofprint, a new free digital platform focused on sustainability and designed to help riders, equestrian centers, event organizers and businesses address the environmental challenges of the future.
The project, slated for launch in autumn 2026, aims to provide information, training, and inspiration to all stakeholders in the equestrian industry to facilitate the adoption of more sustainable practices. The initiative is led by the specialist consultancy White Griffin in collaboration with British Equestrian and includes the participation of numerous leading organizations within the British equestrian community.
The platform will offer practical resources on topics as diverse as rainwater harvesting, paddock maintenance, renewable energy, manure management, carbon footprint calculation, equestrian equipment repair, and efficient facility management. The aim is to provide accessible tools that will reduce the environmental impact of equestrian activities and improve the sector's ability to adapt to upcoming changes.
Ruth Dancer, from White Griffin and one of the project's driving forces, explained that the initiative stems from the need for the entire equestrian community to thrive in a context of environmental transformation. She noted that collaboration between organizations demonstrates that the sector can support each other to adapt quickly and protect both equestrian activity and the natural environment.
Among the entities involved in the development of The Hoofprint are Agria, NAF, British Equestrian, British Showjumping, British Dressage, British Eventing, The Pony Club, World Horse Welfare, Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) and ABRS+, among others.
For his part, British Equestrian CEO Jim Eyre emphasized that the creation of this platform is part of the federation's strategy to provide its members and the wider industry with the tools and knowledge needed to meet future challenges. He also noted that the resource aims to encourage professionals and enthusiasts to make practical changes in their daily work.
In addition to offering training content, the project aims to showcase best practices. Therefore, White Griffin has issued a call to equestrian center owners, businesses, and individuals already implementing sustainable measures to share their experiences. Over the next few months, the team will travel to different regions of the UK to gather real-world examples that can inspire other professionals.
The promoters of the initiative believe that disseminating success stories will demonstrate that many sustainable measures not only benefit the environment, but can also generate economic savings, increase the efficiency of facilities, and contribute to the well-being of horses.
The Hoofprint was thus created as a tool to support the evolution of the equestrian sector towards more responsible management models, combining sustainability, animal welfare and economic viability in a single platform accessible to the entire equestrian community.
