The natural environment of Gorbeia will host on the 6th and 7th of March 2027 a new edition of Le Centaure, the historic international night-time equestrian orienteering event that will test the endurance, strategy and navigation skills of its participants.
The competition will be based in Gopegi, a village in the Alavese municipality of Zigoitia, and will feature a 100-kilometre route through terrain combining mountainous areas and vast stretches of forest.
The male and female riders must complete the course during the night, with navigation and effort management as fundamental elements. The difficulty of the terrain, poor visibility and the numerous hours in the saddle will turn the event into a major challenge for both the participants and their horses.
The arrival of Le Centaure in Gorbeia will enable male and female riders from Spain and other countries to take part in one of the most prominent equestrian orienteering events in Europe. Furthermore, it will offer the opportunity to discover one of the Basque Country's most important natural areas on horseback.
