On 2nd September, the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation announced the Spanish squad for the 2026 FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championship for Young Horses, which will be held in Lanaken.
The Organising Committee has granted the Spanish Studbook a total of four direct places, distributed among the five-, six- and seven-year-old categories. Following the analysis of the applications received and the proposals submitted by ANCADES, the RFHE has confirmed the horses that will represent the Spanish Studbook in the competition.
In the five-year-old category, the place will go to Esmeralda de Chalina, who will compete ridden by Luis Jesús Escobar Jiménez.
Among the six-year-old horses, Spain will have two representatives: Diamant de Chalina, ridden by José Fumero Hernández, and Untouched Cassiano SS, with Oliver Singleton Nuesch.
Meanwhile, the place for the seven-year-old horses has been left vacant due to a lack of applications.
In addition to these four places, the RFHE has requested several FEI Wild Cards from the Organising Committee for combinations belonging to non-Spanish studbooks. These requests are still pending final acceptance.
In five-year-olds feature Georgia Z and George Z, both with Abraham Rodríguez; Chacco Number II, with Esther Modroño Pérez; Langelo I VD, with José Fumero Hernández; Rill Z, also with José Fumero Hernández; Cool Runnings Z, with María González Herrero; and Elf Hatrix II Z, with Uxue Arruza Rodríguez.
For the six-year-old category, invitations have been requested for Kamina de Rose, with Hugo Mossu; Utopia van het Gebergte, with Luis Jesús Escobar; C-Flash VEM Z, with Oriol Pradells Franco; and Cannibal Z, with Pello Elorduy Ibarzabal.
Finally, among the seven-year-old horses appear Instant Love M Kar and O Dorado Equigenne Kar, both with Carlos Bosch Cebrián; Andrea des Rosiers Z, with María González Herrero; Talent van het, with Uxue Arruza Rodríguez; and Appelsvoordehof.
The acceptance of all these wild cards will now depend on the decision of the Organising Committee, which will determine the final composition of the Spanish representation in one of the main international championships for young jumping horses.
