The Longines League of Nations began yesterday, Thursday, September 17, at the Polo Club Saint-Tropez – Haras de Gassin, with a first day that has served to launch one of the most exciting competitions on the international calendar of Salto.
The tracks Marcel Rozier and Nelson Pessoa hosted the first tests of the program, with French riders playing a major role in many of them. The most notable result came in the CSI5* Big Tour, contested at a height of 1.55 m and sponsored by Groupe Nice Matin – Var Matin.
Simon Delestre secured the victory in this first high-level event, leading an international-caliber podium. Kevin Staut finished in second place, while the Swiss Martin Fuchs completed the podium in third place.
The day also featured the CSI5* Small Tour, over 1.45 m, where the victory went to Roger-Yves Bost, adding another triumph for France at the start of the competition.
The young horses also had their space with the CSIYH1*, reserved for horses aged 7 and 8 years and contested over 1.40 m. Mégane Moissonnier prevailed in this test.
The international program was completed with different CSI1* and CSI3* tests. Jean-Luc Mourier won the CSI1* Big Tour on 1.30 m, while Océane Perus did the same in the CSI1* Small Tour on 1.10 m.
In the CSI3*, the Italian Emanuele Gaudiano took victory in the 1.45m Big Tour, while Max Thirouin topped the 1.35m Small Tour standings.
The competition will continue over the coming days in Saint-Tropez, where the eyes will be especially focused on the Longines League of Nations and the CSI5* tests, with some of the top riders and jockeys from the international scene present in France.
