The Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation, hereinafter “RFHE”, provided a Information Note about the requirement for horses to be registered in a studbook.
It was the Delegated Commission of the General Assembly of the body that approved the modification dated 16 January 2023 of the rule Article 128 of the General Regulations, mentioning a series of conditions necessary for obtaining the horse licence.
The intention is to standardise criteria with other territories, so it will be compulsory from 1 January 2024 that any horse must be registered in the Stud Book to obtain the National Horse Licence.
Additionally, from 1st January to 31st December 2023, a transitional period was established for those who are not registered in any pedigree book of breeds belonging to the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (hereinafter, “WBFSH”, nor in any Official Catalogue of Livestock Breeds of Spain.
Ponies must not fulfil such an obligation.
Those specimens of registered breeds with known origins must be registered in the Corresponding Studbook, whereas those lacking a race or origins must direct themselves to any of the current breeders' associations.
Once registered, they must contact the Regional Federation timed for that data to be incorporated into the licence.
