The training combines four months of online theory with face-to-face practicals and addresses on-the-ground work and functional training from the biomechanics, ethology and neuroscience of learning.
Laura Heredia launches a new edition of Training with Sense · Pie a Tierra + Functional Training, a training course aimed at those who seek to better understand horses and develop more functional, progressive, and individualized training. Individuals who register before October 30 they will be able to benefit from a % 20% discount.
Training With Sense is based on the idea that horse training should not be understood as a sum of isolated exercises. The methodology developed by Heredia seeks to integrate body, emotion, learning, and technique to work on the quality of movement and the horse’s ability to cope with the physical and cognitive demands of training.
The new edition focuses on the The two first pillars of Training With Sense. The first is ground work, with special attention paid to observation, regulation, communication, postural reorganization, and the release of tension. The second pillar addresses horse training and the progressive building of strength, balance, coordination, endurance, and load-bearing capacity, with the goal of improving their physical condition without overworking them. The total training is divided into two courses, where the 4 complete pillars are studied.
The ethology and the neuroscience of learning They are covered throughout the program. Throughout the training, aspects such as the horse’s perception and communication, emotional systems, stress, learning and behavior modification, observation and ethograms, physical and functional evaluation, training planning, and intrinsic motivation are addressed.
Issues directly related to the daily work of the horse are also addressed: proprioception, cognitive exercises, handling new situations, loading the trailer, long reins, lateral movements, mobility and stretching, as well as basic aspects of health, nutrition and well-being.
Online training and practical training with horses
The program has a duration of four months and combines Live online classes, with two monthly sessions of two hours, space for questions, review of videos and follow-up, and a block of In-person practices in small groups.
The practices allow the participants to transfer the content to real work situations with horses. They will be able to do them with a horse from the center or bring their own horse to apply the knowledge directly to their case.
The group will be limited to between six and eight participants, By ensuring that practical work allows for individual corrections, adapting the sessions to each horse, and maintaining close follow-up during training, this reduced format is one of the elements that Training With Sense maintains as part of its training proposal.
The in-person block also includes content delivered by guest specialists, among others. Jordi Crusellas, From Ekuo – Veterinary Podiatrists, and Jorge Martínez, homeopath and professor of veterinary medicine at the UAB.
The training is open to both young and adult horses, as well as to horses undergoing a re-adaptation process, always with the appropriate coordination with veterinary professionals when necessary. At the end, participants receive a certificate. Certificate of Training With Sense with the number of hours and the syllabus completed.
One of the main goals of the training is that the student does not limit themselves to learning a series of exercises, but instead acquires the tools to observing, evaluating, and making decisions based on each horse.
The proposal addresses issues ranging from ethology and the functioning of the nervous system to load planning and recovery, as well as biomechanics, ground work, and physical preparation. The approach seeks to ensure that training can be adapted to different disciplines and needs, from sports horses to recreational horses or during recovery processes.
The online sessions of this edition are scheduled for the following days. January 14 and 28, February 11 and 25, March 11 and 25, and April 8 and 22. For the face-to-face part, two possibilities are offered: a format of internships spread out over the weekends of the May 21st to 23rd and 29th and 30th, or an intensive format of May 12th to 16th.
