The Equestrian Federation of the Principality of Asturias has confirmed that the 2026 edition of the Asturias Team Cup will be held on April 25th as part of the El Franco Raid, organized by the Valcarjo Club. The event, one of the most prestigious on the regional calendar, will feature a new scoring system this year, officially announced by the endurance riding committee.
The Asturias Team Cup, created in 2023 to foster team spirit and strengthen ties between riders and clubs in the Principality, is contested in the CEA-P 40, CEA-P 60, and CEA 0*80 categories. Clubs, societies, or other entities may participate, provided they have the approval of the FHPA endurance delegate. Each team must consist of a minimum of two and a maximum of five horse-and-rider pairs, and may compete in any of the distances, as the scoring is standardized regardless of category.
The new system introduces a points scale differentiated by distance covered, awarding greater value to positions achieved in the 60 and 80-kilometer races. In addition, Best Condition will award bonus points in all categories. The final result will be based on the three best scores from each team, adding a strategic element to both the selection of rider pairs and the distribution of distances. In the event of a tie, the best individual positions achieved by team members will prevail.
The FHPA reminds participants that team formations must be notified 24 hours before the start of the event, indicating the team name and the list of pairs registered for each distance. The federation will supervise the course and ensure the correct application of the regulations during the event.
With this new format, the Asturias Team Cup seeks to revitalize the regional competition, strengthen participation and continue to promote raid racing in the region.
