The drop in temperatures and the arrival of snow present a challenge for any rider who wants to enjoy equestrian sports. However, these circumstances don't necessarily mean a complete halt to your favorite sport; rather, you simply need to adapt your training routine to the weather.
We must keep in mind that horses need to stay active to avoid muscle and digestive problems, so we recommend reducing the intensity on very cold days and avoiding dangerous terrain such as icy areas or areas with deep snow.
The equipment must be adapted to these weather conditions; thermal clothing should be used (undershirts, gloves, or socks designed for low temperatures, etc.). Thick, protective blankets against moisture can also be used (in case of rain or snow). Therefore, we must adapt our routines, take care of the horse, and use appropriate equipment to ensure the enjoyment and safety of both rider and horse.
Bundle up, take care of your adventure partner, and take advantage of the magic of winter to keep riding!
