For decades, Asturias has been one of the autonomous regions with the richest equestrian traditions. However, the economic crisis also affected this sector, leading to its decline; a clear example of this was the closure of the El Asturcón Equestrian Center.
Having overcome the crisis, Asturias is once again becoming one of the most important and promising regions in equestrian sports. This is due to a combination of new equestrian centers, improvements to existing infrastructure, and the talent of its riders.
The commitment to the future is not a mere coincidence, but the result of a collective effort supported by both public entities and private companies, as well as other professionals and enthusiasts, who have committed to comprehensive training and international competitions that attract both national and international riders.
We cannot forget that riders like Sergio Álvarez Moya, Gerardo Menéndez or Olivia Álvarez have come from this natural paradise.
