The 2026 World Dressage Championship is already underway for our Chacco Riders. José Antonio García Mena and Yvonne Losos de Muñiz successfully passed the vet check this morning with their respective horses, Gladiador do Lis and Idwinaretto, thus kicking off their World Championship participation.
In Mena's case, the pass of Gladiador do Lis is added to those of the rest of the members of the Spanish team, made up of Borja Carrascosa and Frizzantino FRH, Lucía Gallardo and Hip By Johnson, and Severo Jurado with Flaconi W.
For her part, Yvonne Losos de Muñiz will take on the Championship under the Dominican flag, in an event that also represents a new challenge alongside Idwinaretto, who is making her World Championship debut.
Having passed the first veterinary check, the horses will rest and prepare for this afternoon's familiarisation session, before tomorrow it is time to step into the Grand Prix arena, the first major test of these World Championships.
With 91 registered combinations, the Grand Prix will take place over two days. On Tuesday 11 August, Lucía Gallardo and Severo Jurado will compete, while on Wednesday 12 it will be the turn of José Antonio García Mena, Yvonne Losos de Muñiz and Borja Carrascosa.
For the Spanish team, the Grand Prix will be decisive in determining the team classification and, therefore, the nation that will be crowned World Champion.
Now it is time to familiarise ourselves with the arena, fine-tune the final details and ensure the horses arrive at the competition with the best possible feelings.
