Palm Beach Equine Clinic: year-round sports performance and referral veterinary care

For more than four decades, Palm Beach Equine Clinic (PBEC) has been one of the veterinary pillars of South Florida's equestrian ecosystem. Its work extends throughout the entire season and beyond, offering specialised care to high-performance horses. As the Official Veterinarian of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), the Global Dressage Festival, the annual competitions at Wellington International and the National Polo Center, PBEC ensures that every horse has access to a standard of equine medicine comparable to that of the best centres in the world.

The PBEC team is prepared to cover any need: from the issuance of routine veterinary documentation to emergency services, advanced diagnostics, surgery or second opinions in collaboration with referring vets.

A multidisciplinary team at the service of sport

PBEC has more than 30 veterinarians, including six board-certified surgeons, making the clinic one of the centres with the highest concentration of specialists in the region. Its areas of work cover internal medicine, emergencies, reproduction, regenerative medicine, podiatry, dentistry and complementary therapies such as equine medical manipulation or acupuncture. This breadth of expertise makes it possible to approach each case from a global perspective, geared towards both prevention and sports performance.

Cutting-edge technology for precise diagnostics

One of PBEC's key strengths is its diagnostic capability. The clinic has Florida's only Canon Aquilion LB Exceed CT scanner, an advanced system that moves around the horse to obtain high-precision images without the need for general anaesthesia. It can be raised to examine the head and neck or lowered to scan limbs while standing, offering key information for swift decisions and effective treatments.

Commitment to the equestrian community

“As official vets of WEF and GDF, we are proud to be available 24/7 for any horse in Wellington,” states PBEC President Dr Scott Swerdlin. “The standards we set ourselves and the calibre of our team are exceptional. We care for horses and riders arriving from every corner of the globe, and our aim is always to provide the best possible medicine.”.

An ally for every type of horse

Whether it is a Grand Prix horse, a youngster in training or a leisure companion, PBEC seeks to integrate itself as part of the owner’s and rider’s team. Its combination of expertise, technology and personal attention has established the clinic as an absolute benchmark in equine sports medicine in the United States.
