Imhotep, the dressage horse with which Charlotte Dujardin won medals at the 2022 WEG and the 2023 European Championship, has been sold to Austria, where she will continue her career under the rider Diana Porsche.
The 11-year-old gelding will thus continue his career in international dressage, after Carl Hester bought him upon seeing just a single video.
Bred in the Netherlands by Tineke Huizing and Albert Van Dijk, Imhotep excelled in youth competitions before coming into the hands of Dujardin, who in just a few years took him to Grand Prix level.
In 2023, Dujardin and Imhotep achieved an outstanding performance at the European Championship, where they secured a team gold medal and two bronze medals in individual events. The pair had a place to compete in the Paris Olympic Games, but ultimately could not attend.
Diana Porsche, an Austrian rider coached by Diederik Wigmans, will take charge of his training and compete him in international events. Porsche expressed her gratitude towards Hester and Dujardin, and highlighted her desire to develop a strong connection with Imhotep, without pressure and in a suitable environment for the horse.
