The Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation has announced the makeup of the Spanish team that will take part in the CSIO4*-NC EEF Final in Avenches (Switzerland), which will run from 2 to 6 September, and among those selected is Alex Codina, who will approach the event as a U25 rider.
Codina has been included in the national team alongside Jesús Garmendia Echevarría, Imma Roquet Autonell, Iván Serrano Sáez and Armando Trapote, in a squad that brings together some of the leading names in Spanish show jumping.
The Catalan rider has been selected with Espoir de la Chesnee, Caliga Blue PS and Joy de Goutte Noire, three of the horses with which he is experiencing a particularly positive moment. The call-up comes following his good results at the Cerdanya Tour, where his performances with Espoir and Caliga, among others, confirmed the strong form of his stable.
The Spanish team will have five riders and a significant group of horses: Jesús Garmendia is selected with Caramel Blue PS, Micox and Nina Tila; Imma Roquet with Elba del Maset and Dalia del Maset; Iván Serrano will be accompanied by Rain Man and Paco VD Bishop, while Armando Trapote features with Matilda and Karl P.
Spain will face Austria, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Sweden in Avenches. The RFHE also points out that the team composition may be modified depending on sporting and technical circumstances, with 2 September as the deadline for making substitutions.
