At just 11 years old, María González Blanco continues to make steady progress in the world of equestrian competition. The Galician rider, daughter of Javier González Fraga, from the JGF Stud, faces one of the major objectives of her calendar this season: the Spanish Pony B Championship, where she will compete alongside Utika with the intention of defending the title she previously won.
At the same time, María continues to develop in the discipline of show jumping. In 2024, during her first year in the children's category, she was part of the Galician team that won the team gold medal at the Spanish Championship. A year later she returned to the podium with a team bronze, and is now facing her final year as a child competitor with the hope of concluding this stage with another great result.
All signs point to María's immediate future being increasingly tied to horses. Although she still competes on ponies, she already regularly works with young horses from the stud farm and has taken part in lower-height classes with good results. Among them is also Sonic JFG, the stud farm's flagship, which she rides and works with on a regular basis, just like the rest of the horses in the family project, so competing with him in the future is not ruled out.
As well as the competition, María also shows an interest in other areas related to horses. Veterinary medicine seems to particularly spark her curiosity, and she already collaborates on stud farm tasks linked to this field. Furthermore, she takes part in the school by helping other children and training her seven-year-old sister, Lucía, who also competes in A ponies.
Specifically, Lucía will experience one of her most special moments this year with her debut in the Spanish Championship, which will be held in La Cerdanya, an experience she will share with her older sister.
